Fujdog Posted 4 May , 2018 Share Posted 4 May , 2018 This new film set in rural France during the war sounds rather lovely: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/05/02/movies/the-guardians-review.html Jill

charlie962 Posted 4 May , 2018 Share Posted 4 May , 2018 I saw this recently in a village hall in central France and much enjoyed it. Quite a long film though not a lot of script and not a lot of action but beautifully filmed in fine countryside in the Limousin, I think- at least they said the nearest town was Bellac. A good reminder of one of the roles the women took on when the men went off to war. At the same time a realistic depiction of the 'paysan' mentality on land ownership and the family. A mentality still very apparent today. Outsiders beware! Charlie
