I saw this recently in a village hall in central France and much enjoyed it. Quite a long film though not a lot of script  and not a lot of action but beautifully filmed in fine countryside in the Limousin, I think- at least they said the nearest town was Bellac. A good reminder of one of the roles the women took on when the men went off to war. At the same time a realistic depiction of the 'paysan' mentality on land ownership and the family. A mentality still very apparent today.  Outsiders beware!
