Hello All,

I'm currently researching 12/1164 Cpl Matthew Bolden Burnby of the 12th York & Lancaster Regiment (Sheffield City Battalion) who won the Military Medal on 1 July 1916.  Matthew was born in Sheffield in 1885, the son of a local coal merchant, and was educated at Wesley College.  He served with the Duke of Wellington's Regiment from 1903-1909 and, following the outbreak of the First World War, enlisted in the Sheffield City Battalion.  In 1917 he was commissioned into the Middlesex Regiment and served with the 1/8th Battalion before transferring to the Machine Gun Corps in 1918.  He survived the war and died in 1939.

I'm planning to write Matthew's story for my local history society as part of our WW1 commemorations, but I have been unable to find a picture of him.  If any kind soul has a picture of Matthew Burnby, or knows where I might find one, I'd be very grateful if they would let me know.

Thanks to you all,
