green_acorn Posted 25 April , 2018 Share Posted 25 April , 2018 The small Australian community of Devenish in Northern Victoria commissioned an artist to produce a mural on the towns 20 metre tall wheat silo's of a WW1 nurse on one silo and a modern medic on the other, the result is amazing. The image is by https://www.p1xels.com.au/ https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/on-the-eve-of-anzac-day-war-mural-steals-a-town-s-heart-20180423-p4zb8n.html It joins a number of other silo's with community supported artworks here in Australia. green_acorn Posted 1 January , 2023 Author Share Posted 1 January , 2023 It turns out the "medic" on the left isn't actually a medic. She was actually a RAAMC Medical Officer with the coalition force that went into Northern Iraq post Gulf War One to protect the Kurds. The painting on the wheat silo is based on a photograph of her in the Australian War Memorial collection.
stevenbecker Posted 1 January , 2023 Share Posted 1 January , 2023 Mates, I could also ad a critical eye to the modern lady's uniform Way to much green is used, when ours are more lighter, it reminds me of the British cam gear I was issue in the 80's when on attachment. green_acorn Posted 1 January , 2023 Author Share Posted 1 January , 2023 Steve, I will pass that onto her. I learnt a few months ago that it is my GP! She has been my GP for the past eight years! Chris
