Another nice-looking piece. Is it a sawback removed? And I need to think on that maker's mark! Nothing on the other sie? The scabbard is post ww1 though... WW1 scabbards have the screw holding the scabbard 'leaves' in place on the front of the scabbard above the frog stud.

Coming back to this one for further general comment. These S.14 (and the first short Ersatz) were all made following the Kaiser's order in the autumn/winter of 1914 that cavaly be supplied with a short bayonet, these being issued in the early months of 1915, to the cavalry on the east first, and then to the cavalry on the west.

I have so much to catch up on here (have been away for almost 4 weeks with work issues) that I ca't check the exact monthly dates right now but I'll try to do so later or tomorrow

I would like to know your opinion about.

About the scabbard, lot of discussions with Roy.

I will send and more photos from this one also, just to have a general opinion of view.

Looking forward to that. Teaching ends next week and I have just finished an article that needed to be done, and so I can get back to GWF on a more regular basis in two weeks time...
