Rvictor Posted 8 April , 2018 Share Posted 8 April , 2018 when soldiers were discharged after the end of hostilities .. I note from the award rolls that the dates of discharge are batched, with some men delayed more than others. Whilst I can well understand the logistic reasons for this phasing of release ... what do the dates recorded signify ... final date in unit (abroad) .. return date to home .. or simply the date the papers were dealt with, irrespective of the man's location/activities as at that date? sotonmate Posted 8 April , 2018 Share Posted 8 April , 2018 Article in Long Long Trail under Soldiers about Discharge, with a link to Class Z Reserve. Seems that a soldier was given a month's leave before discharge so when this ended Class Z kicked in, he only came back (rather quickly) if hostilities resumed. This requirement ended in 1920.
