Hello Steve!

Is it 3.R.R.L.? What is between the L and the 4? Probably a bavarian Landwehr-Bataillon of a Landwehr-district with K (Kempten, Kitzingen, Kissingen or Kaiserslautern)

3.L.II.1.144: Landwehr-Bataillon Gumbinnen (from Landwehr-Regiment N°3), 1st company, weapon 144

84.R.7.138: Inf.Rgt.84, 7th company, qweapon 138

22.R.9.32: Inf.Rgt.22, 9th company, weapon 32

B.9.R.E.2.170: Ersatz-Bataillon of bavarian 9th Inf.Rgt, 2nd company, weapon 170

XIV.E.F.3.23: Etappen-Fuhrpark-Kolonne N°3 of XIV. Army Corps, weapon 23

These are all very nice! Lucky you!!!

Well, I think a Bavarian marking as 'upside down',  and serial number on the reverse. These are odd, these extra numbers on so many Bavarian bayonets, nobody seems to know why they are there, more usually found on the quillon where present as on 98/05's.

Heck, I've only just started! :o Good on you Andi - but, I was just settling in for another beer. todo the rest..:(

Hello, interesting this discussion. I own two muzzle covers of the Gew 1888 commission rifle and both have the initials of the units they belong to. The first one 54. R.E. 1. 12. and the second K.F.R. 6. 104. Could you help me identify them?
Thanks
