Coldstreamer Posted 1 April , 2018 Share Posted 1 April , 2018 Hello I may be barking up the wrong tree... Ive a ledger book of Coldstreamers that stops at service number 14401 - which is an enlistment in late December 1914 - in the remarks column it says "date gift dispatched" so Im assuming its Princess Mary's Gift ... Some are issued as late as 1921 (to those killed which I can understand a delay in sending to the NOK ) but the question is why so many so late ? Loads in 1916 on wards, cant see any for 1915 If we look at Band Sgt W Stanley specifically - a pre war soldier who was in the UK, went to France 22nd January 16 until the 29th April 1916 , his gift was issued 31st March 1916. I'm sure they could have found him quicker than that to give him his gift - he was in the Regimental Band! cheers
ss002d6252 Posted 1 April , 2018 Share Posted 1 April , 2018 Looks like it was simply administrative delays in getting them out - From 1917 Craig
