newnsj Posted 29 March , 2018 Share Posted 29 March , 2018 Could be wrong but looks like Royal Welsh Fusileers, does that sound right to you? Regards, Joe.

Possibly ending in a C or a G? I thought maybe Grenadier Guards but it's hard to define without a much closer look and I'm really not sure about the shoulder title for them as I think it should have the grenade in it. The bottom half of the cap badge looks rather odd shaped and not very rounded, which is strange or a trick of the light.
Dragoon Posted 29 March , 2018 Share Posted 29 March , 2018 (edited) You're right Andy with regards to the shoulder title, the Grenadiers have GG with a grenade, or, not sure when it was introduced, the royal garter with Kings crown above, either way it was something above GG. Also the HAC adopted the Grenadiers shape badge, and this chaps badge apears to have something on the ball of the grenade, where as Guardsmen have a plain ball. Wrong shape for Fusiliers, don't you think? Chris Edited 29 March , 2018 by Dragoon
FROGSMILE Posted 29 March , 2018 Share Posted 29 March , 2018 I agree with Chris. HAC Infantry. The GG metal ST had a universal (RA patt) grenade above, as mentioned.

Chris Yes, I think the raised HAC lettering on the front of the 'ball' is reflecting the light, making it appear to be an odd shape and rules out all of those with a smooth ball. Not Fusiliers. HAC is the best bet for this one. What was his name, arantxa? Perhaps a quick medal roll check would confirm what I think we already know, thanks to Chris's initial identification. The Inspector Posted 30 March , 2018 Share Posted 30 March , 2018 (edited) I think the size of this one is a better match. Regards Barry Edited 30 March , 2018 by The Inspector

The Inspector Posted 30 March , 2018 Share Posted 30 March , 2018 Hi All, HAC it is, the flame angle makes it pretty obvious! Got my hat on and standing in the corner! Regards Barry
