Guest Posted 18 March , 2018 Share Posted 18 March , 2018 Good evening, wondering what’s the best way to go about researching a Royal Garrison Artillery soldier without having to sign up to ancestry or some such similar site. My Great Grandfather was 285457 Gunner Percy Owens & was with them from 1916 to when he was honourably discharged due to wounds on 30th May 1918. Any help ir guidance gratefully received. Thank you, Will
ss002d6252 Posted 18 March , 2018 Share Posted 18 March , 2018 (edited) Realistically, you can't avoid Ancestry and Find My Past. #285457 Owens has a partial surviving service record.https://search.findmypast.co.uk/record?id=GBM/WO363-4/007299052/00235&parentid=GBM/WO363-4/7299052/15/235 To read it you should be able to sign up for a free trial on Find My Past. There will be different records on Ancestry, a free trial of that is also usually available. Craig Edited 18 March , 2018 by ss002d6252
