good morning,

I would like to know if there is a list of the policemen (ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY) who served on the front during the first world war.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Kind regards.

Although commonly thought that they all went into Irish Guards, RIC men joined many other regiments

This site - click for site - has a good list of men and regiments

Alternatively if it just a few men you are interested in, if you post their details here, I will look them up in RIC register.

good morning,

I am interested in this training because I had the opportunity to find with cap and collar Canadian badge a badge of ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY :

When I got it out of the ground, I thought of soot at the London Irish rifles but with this type of attachment, I was confirmed that it was a cap badge of ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY.

He was found between Arras & Vimy.

Sector held from end 1916 to 1917 by the Canadian Corps

with the battle of Arras,  it's going to be hard to identify all the Irish regiments between 1917 and 1918.

But I lean more during the Spring Offensive 1917 view the context of the find.

thank's a lot for your help & the very good link.

regards

Michel you brought the subject of this cap badge up last year:

It is not an RIC badge. See the final post in the above thread for the London Irish Rifles and an image of this badge being worn.

Good evening

Thanks to you, I've just reread my old post on the subject.

I am looking for or the London Irish rifles have been able to rub shoulders with Canadians. Found with almost 20 Canadian classic badge & collar cap + 1 cap badge of the 63rd Battalion + 1 button of the 48th Highlanders.

Not far from there, I found a plate of a soldier of the 2/15 London. May be a badge cap of a man from 2/18 London.Because the 60th Division (London) also parked at this place at the end of 1916. Just when the Canadian came to pick them up to prepare for the April 09, 1917 offensive.

I still have a doubt about this cap badge. 18th London or RIC?It looks very much like that of the RIC.

Kind regards

Michel

Good evening

I found the similarities between my cap badge (paint in black) and the RIC's. :
These surrounded in yellow :
