Hi guys,

My first post here and I am searching for information about the unit of my Grandmother's brother as in the photo.  I am not sure when this was taken but I presume around 1914.

What colour tartan would this be then?

Cheers,

Jim

Gordon Highlanders, around 1915.  The plaid is Gordon.  It is predominantly green and blue with a yellow over-sett that is not apparent because of orthochromatic film of the period.

Shown below is the tartan used in the kilt he is wearing.  Known as the Gordon tartan, as previously explained by Frogsmile, it consists of yellow stripes (rendered dark by the photography of the day) over the basic Government tartan.
