andyrichards62 Posted 19 February , 2018 Share Posted 19 February , 2018 Can anyone help understanding what the handwriting is under 'Theaters of war in which served'?
chaz Posted 19 February , 2018 Share Posted 19 February , 2018 not sure, but would think more of initials confirming entry correct or medals issued and the pre printed form would have had typewritten theatre as they had gone to the trouble of typing in soldiers name and regiment details, just my thoughts. Admin kenf48 Posted 19 February , 2018 Admin Share Posted 19 February , 2018 (edited) They are simply admin references or as Chaz suggests checking notes, looks like the last one is overwritten with 'SWB' or Silver War Badge which, as you have access to ancestry you can confirm from the SWB Rolls. It might also be worth looking at the bottom of the page at the signature of the reporting officer, who was a Lt Jones, however I think it more likely to be the clerk, if you browse the Roll there are entries not initialled but with an ‘X’.
