2/lt A J Ward was KIA , I wonder what the 2nd Leinster Regiment was involved in  on the 18/06/1918 .

2nd Lt. Ward was killed in an attack on LUG FARM in the early hours of 19 June 1918. The war diary for the two days, 18th and 19th June reads, verbatim:-

 

18th.   Battalion in Right Subsection, Left Sector Front Line. - Quiet Day.

 

19th.   at 12.45 a.m. "A" Coy. Attacked and captured LUG FARM with heavy Artillery barrage. 2 Machine Guns and 1 wounded Bosche were taken. 2/Lieut. A. J. Ward killed. Casualties 1 O.R. killed 40 wounded. "B" Coy. relieved "A" Coy. in Front Line at night. Lieut. Col. Weldon to Hospital. Major J. R. Frend D.S.O. in Command.
