Mick M Posted 16 February , 2018 Share Posted 16 February , 2018 Hi All, I'm trying to find a war diary for the above unit, dates in question May to October 1917. It was attached to 4th Division at that time and the soldier in question was KIA on 4.10.17 no known grave,so presumably a victim of a German counter attack concluding on the 4th or the Battle of Broodseinde which commenced on 4th.... If no diary does anyone know the brigade or battalion they were attached to which would be a good steer Soldier, Ernest Ash Private 88497 his file des exist. Thanks.... Ron Clifton Posted 16 February , 2018 Share Posted 16 February , 2018 Hello Mick MG Company diaries are a bit tricky to find but here it is: WO 95/1500 11 Infantry Brigade WO 95/1500 Brigade Machine Gun Company 1915 Dec. - 1918 Jan. WO 95/1500 Brigade Trench Mortar Battery 1916 June - Aug. It is downloadable from the Kew website for £3.50, or free on Ancestry. You may need to add /1 to the file number to get the right diary.
