Having read the book ... twice. Which shows how sad I am ...I still have the same opinion.

I still agree with you and crumbs you've got stamina.....

On second thought, where's the dug out?

I'll stand by you pal, but if things get rough, how's this Dugout? :P

Hi

Tommy is the first factual book I have read from start through to finish, such was my interest and engagement with the subject matter and his approach.

However, I did spend much of the first part wondering where the Tommy was in all of the detail about staff officers and army structure. I enjoyed it, it was informative, but by the time he got to the "Tommies" at about half way through, I felt like it had been an unexpectedly long set of context setting chapters as a run up.

I still retain a high opinion of the book - though the title, however evocative, does not adequately indicate the nature of the content.
