A good general Posted 9 February , 2018 Share Posted 9 February , 2018 Could soldiers be transferred from one regiment to another or from one army to another (examples: British second army to fifth army, Royal Ulster's to Royal Sussex)? This is probably a stupid question but I just wanted to know.
sotonmate Posted 9 February , 2018 Share Posted 9 February , 2018 Divisions moved between Corps and Armies, Brigades between Divisions, Battalions between Brigades. Soldiers between Regiments. All due to the exigencies of the service.
A good general Posted 10 February , 2018 Author Share Posted 10 February , 2018 Thanks again for another answer! I have heard stories of soldiers going from infantry to pilot but not between different regiments or division.
Coldstreamer Posted 10 February , 2018 Share Posted 10 February , 2018 quite common to get moved. On another forum, 7 units in ww1 believed to have occurred. medically down graded men could be moved too.
