Here's the battalion war diary at the National Archives, downloadable for a small fee.

If you have or can gain access to Ancestry here is the war diary. The entry for 6th September 1914 reads:

"The battalion advanced with the remainder of the 4th Guards Brigade and took up position at the CHATEAU DE LA FORTELLE and in the ensuing action lost the following casualty -

2/Lt W de Winton killed"

The history of the Coldstreams records “Second Lieutenant Walter de Winton, 3rd, was unfortunately killed by a shell, the only casualty on that day in the 2nd and 3rd Coldstreams.  The 3rd were entrenched at Chateau de la Fortelle, the 2nd near Nesles.  An important action was expected, but it never took place and only an artillery duel took place at fairly long range.”
