Remembered Today:

Royal West Surrey Regiment

Recommended Posts

Captain J. Sowery served with 6/Royal West Surrey Regiment and was attached to the Royal Flying Corps with the rank of Captain (later T/Major).

I am requesting any biographical details that are available.  Any information will be appreciated greatly--forename(s), Great War service, and

prewar and postwar life.

Best regards,

Josquin

To get started, here is an extract from that wonderful site airhistory.org

Despite the two different spellings I think they are all for the same man.

Charlie,

Many thanks for the comprehensive information and the excellent source. I agree that the listings are for the same man despite the variant spellings.

Best regards,

Josquin

There is a service file at Kew under WO339/11454 for a 2/Lt John SOWREY.

Sotonmate,

Thank you for the reference for Captain Sowery's service record.  The variant surname spelling was a complication, as more seems to be

recorded under the incorrect spelling.  The clarification is appreciated.

Best regards,

Josquin
