Caribou Hill

Dear Forum Members

                           Can someone tell me where Caribou Hill is in Gallipoli? I think it may be near Scimitar Hill  and was fought over by the Newfoundland Regiment.

This map [from http://regiment.mi.mun.ca/rnfldr/frame.htm] suggests that it was further up from Scimitar Hill (towards the left of our line) just below Kiretch Tepe Sirt

edit to add: it seems to fit in with your photograph showing the rising ground behind.

The exact location of the hill is: 40°19'39.10"  26°16'26.87" About 700m NE of Azmak Cem. Stone structures can be easily seen on Google Earth. (Sorry, can't attach a screenshot or a photo atm)

By the way I heard that the famous Caribou memorial will be erected on the hill in near future. Looking forward to it.

Thanks for pin-pointing that location

I have walked and driven past there several times, but next time I will be paying more attention 

I couldn't attach a link either, however this (regrettably fuzzy) printout may help

Azmak CWGC Cemetery can be clearly seen above/left of the name Google 

and Caribou Hill is indicated by the red arrow

Following the road going bottom left to top right will take you to the Kirectepe Gendarme Cemetery and Memorial

Bringing Emrezmen's comment up to date

It seems that the Caribou memorial may be erected at or near Hill 10 CWGC Cemetery where several of Newfoundland's soldiers lie
