Help with what MGC BN / Company please

Hi all

My uncle, John Mack Beatson as stated before was awarded a MM with the MGC but the LG only states MGC.

https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/30389/supplement/11962

No service or pension papers and sadly as his marriage (1945) to my aunt was his second, my cousin has no letters or PC's which might help.

We would like to try the war diaries but have no idea of company or battalion that he served with. Only has MGC on MIC and both medal rolls, how do we find this out.

Any advice or help greatly appreciated.

Peter

Hi

Been through WD for 45th Coy and he was mentioned on 29/9/1917 as being awarded the MM. There was also mention of H Lafferty 3245 being awarded a DCM on same date.

https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/30512/supplement/1737

Hoping as both this DCM and uncles MM are gazetted in same gazette and mentioned in WD same time that action was approx. same date / dates, can any one help with date and location of DCM action please?????

much appreciated

Peter

Fantastic, my cousin & I have gone into the WD again with this date and it all ties together that this is the action for the MM. Attached is what we now think is Cpl Beatson arriving with Damaged gun.

Many thanks for the prompt reply as she is only here for a couple of more hours and I have been able to show her the results straight away.

Much appreciate your help on this.

Cheers

Peter and Jean
