Royal British Legion, Sawtry (Hunts) Branch

I have been asked by the Secretary of the above Branch of the RBL if I can help them prepare a history of the formation and the early days  of this branch.  I have been unable to find very much so far, but believe it was founded in 1928.  It would be great if we could find out who was the driving force behind the setting up of it and who the first members were.  Has anyone done anything similar and can suggest useful lines of enquiry?   I realise that the opening may well have been recorded in local newspapers and I have that task on my 'To Do' list, but just wondered if there might be an easier and more expeditious way of finding the information.  Many thanks.  Malcolm
