6th Kings Own Royal Lancs, 2/1917

Wonder if anyone with an interest in this battalion can help particularly on 9/2/17. Gerald Coldwell Siordet was a 13th Rifle Brigade officer attached to this battalion and is commemorated on the Basrah Memorial. Previous to his commission in the Rifle Brigade he was 2068 in the 18th Royal Fusiliers.

Can anyone tell me what the 6th K.O.R.L. were doing and is Siordet mentioned.

Thanks

Andy

For reasons unknown it seems only their February 1916 diary survives http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/20e9b91067e64566a2d73682294a7f76 - the front cover sheet states "Ref enclosure, no trace of diaries for either Dardanelles or Mesopotamia campaigns"

Thanks David,

The Regiment seems to have them, I have been passed the relevant diary from a member who got copies there.

I was going to suggest that the Lancashire Infantry Museum may be of use.

They had some extra interesting stuff that the National Archives did not.
