Westonfront Posted 11 January , 2018 Share Posted 11 January , 2018 (edited) Hi All its been a long time since I posted so please be understanding!! I am a supporter of the A L Lewis VC memorial fund and we are trying to raise funds to erect a statue to him in Hereford Town centre to mark the hundredth anniversary of his death on the 21st September 1918. Like most charities its a hard slog to get support and its extremely hard trying to justify asking for money for a guy who's been dead 100 years but its not just to commemorate the only Hereford Born man to ever win a VC we intend the memorial to honour all who died and served in WW1. whilst I have some information regarding how and where he won his VC, I would be very interested to know more as to what his battalion were doing between 18th September to 21st September 1918 (date he was killed) we do know he was ex RASC but any help ideas much appreciated. do look at our web page Allan Leonard Lewis Memorial Fund and if you can help or even spare a copper to assist with our cause that would be brilliant.
