ARMAGH Posted 7 January , 2018 Posted 7 January , 2018 (edited) Trying to find out where the 1st Bn Royal Irish Fusiliers were on 14 April 1918? can any one help? Many thanks Joe Edited 7 January , 2018 by ARMAGH Failed to say which Bn
Mark1959 Posted 7 January , 2018 Posted 7 January , 2018 (edited) War Diary is very terse. Start of 9th Battalion WD. Also in 108th Brigade. Entries 13th Battalion held a position on top of ridge at Wulverghem. Enemy attacked, but was driven back. 14th Battn returned to Kemmel. Shelters behind Kemmel Hill. Here received orders to proceed to Beehive Dugouts. This seems to provide a summary that matches the WDs. https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=r1XdCQAAQBAJ&pg=PA216&lpg=PA216&dq=beehive+dugouts&source=bl&ots=85Et4jhQzq&sig=wOTEAinXlqwbWbnVBs-MAxL04ys&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjNnMmE5cbYAhVrDsAKHTgiBCUQ6AEITTAK#v=onepage&q=beehive dugouts&f=false Edited 7 January , 2018 by Mark1959
ARMAGH Posted 7 January , 2018 Author Posted 7 January , 2018 I am looking for details of the 1st Bn Royal Irish Fusiliers I had not said 1st Bn on 14 April 1918 in my post. My apologies to readers. Many Thanks for your help Mark Regards Joe
Mark1959 Posted 7 January , 2018 Posted 7 January , 2018 Confused. The relevant 1st Bn Diary is in the start of the 9 Bn’s WD. It covers a few pages and the 9th’s about 600+.
