big rad Posted 7 January , 2018 Posted 7 January , 2018 my great uncle enlisted in Sept1914 into the Coldstream guards his service number was 11569, could anyone tell me if he would of been in the 2nd or 3rd battalion please,
munce Posted 7 January , 2018 Posted 7 January , 2018 If your great uncle is Ernest Radford, he served in the 3rd battalion. This comes from the Register of Soldiers' Effects, which is available on Ancestry.

sotonmate Posted 8 January , 2018 Posted 8 January , 2018 Battalion in the WIELTJE Salient/Canal Bank on 24 March 1916. They were repairing parapets which had been blown in by shellfire.
