Patrick H Posted 4 January , 2018 Posted 4 January , 2018 Struggling a little on this one. I have his SDGW and MIC from ancestry plus the 1911 census but cannot find the War diary for this date. Can anyone point me in the right direction pleas Patrick
Guest Posted 4 January , 2018 Posted 4 January , 2018 Patrick- Who is your man? There is a Brigade diary including 9th Essex available at TNA. It should be available on Ancestry-preferably using the 4 figure number in the WO file detail as a "Keyword". If you wish the relevant Burrows scanned across to you, then this can be done by end of Saturday. 35 Infantry Brigade: 9 Battalion Essex Regiment. War Office: First World War and Army of Occupation War Diaries. PART I: FRANCE, BELGIUM AND GERMANY. 12 DIVISION. 35 Infantry Brigade: 9 Battalion Essex Regiment. (Described at item level). 35 Infantry Brigade: 9 Battalion Essex Regiment. Held by: The National Archives - War Office, Armed Forces, Judge Advocate General, and related bodies Date: 01 December 1916 - 31 December 1917 Reference: WO 95/1851/3 Subjects: Armed Forces (General Administration) | Army | Conflict | Diaries | Europe and Russia | Operations, battles and campaigns
Langdon Posted 5 January , 2018 Posted 5 January , 2018 Here's the 9th Battalion's war diary summary of the month of July 1917 on Ancestry Mike
Patrick H Posted 5 January , 2018 Author Posted 5 January , 2018 My man is BERTIE CRABB J Pte 35007 9th Essex. If you would let me have the relevant section from Burrows I would be grateful Patrick Mike, thanks for the link. I have had a look, its very hard to read it as it seems to have faded. I'll persevere though thanks Patrick
