stuart rowles Posted 30 December , 2017 Share Posted 30 December , 2017 There is a large war memorial in Gardiner Street, Durban, South Africa. Does anyone have pictures of the many brass panels or know where I can find them. I am particularly interested in the panel showing the names ROWLES. stuart rowles Posted 1 January , 2018 Author Share Posted 1 January , 2018 (edited) Yes I did see the articles about the vandalism of this memorial. It is shocking to think anyone could stoop so low. There was a similar case in Plymouth, here in Devon, a while back, but it has now been restored. Edited 1 January , 2018 by stuart rowles
BereniceUK Posted 4 January , 2018 Share Posted 4 January , 2018 Try contacting Kevin Jordan, deputy headmaster of Glenwood High School, Durban; if he can't help, he'll be bound to know someone who can. http://www.glenwoodhighschool.co.za/wp-content/uploads/S0001-Contact-List.pdf http://www.defenceweb.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=41318:war-memorials-in-durban&catid=32:military-art-a-science&Itemid=
Kitchener's Bugle Posted 8 January , 2018 Share Posted 8 January , 2018 That memorial is one of the very finest, I was horrified to learn about what had happened.
