Guest Bill NEWMAN Posted 23 May , 2003 Share Posted 23 May , 2003 I know that my Great Grandfather was captured in the St Quentin area 21st March 1918. Am I right in believing that any enquiries regarding his captive history is best served through the International Red cross archives. If so could anyone tell me the likely results that could be expected
Paul Reed Posted 23 May , 2003 Share Posted 23 May , 2003 I heard this week that the Red Cross are no longer answering enquiries on this matter, even to direct next of kin - sadly.

Bernard_Lewis Posted 25 May , 2003 Share Posted 25 May , 2003 The PRO at Kew has a file on men who were repatriated and then interviewed by an Imperial Committee to see if they had been mistreated etc. The mens names are indexed as well as certain subjects (say 'food' or 'medical care' etc.). If your man is in the index you should be able to then get a copy of his interview - but not all men were interviewed so its hit and miss. Thousands of names but checkable in a morning or so.
