American Field Burial Plats

Hello all,

 

In conducting research on my great grand uncle Max Polak I've come across an interesting document collection in the National Archives in the United States:

 

Maps and Plans of Temporary American Expeditionary Force Cemeteries, 1920 - 1922

 

It seems as though the Graves Registration Service made detailed plats of all the field burials of American soldiers. Here's an example of one from a Facebook group I'm a part of:

 

 

This might be a useful resource for anyone doing AEF ancestor research! (Of course, the National Archives can't find Max's burial plat )
