A most curious reference. I can't find a service record so any suggestion as to how he did die if anyone can point me to a reference. Mark1959 Posted 22 December , 2017 Posted 22 December , 2017 The coroner’s inquest verdict was accidental death. Fell while punting with a young lady. Already ill having been subject to “heart attacks and fits” since wounding. Some evidence his puttee had come and might have become entangled. Young lady saw him come to surface and then heard him “rattling in his throat”.
