They were looking for 140,000 euros, and have been pledged 178,000 euros, according to the website.

The website linked to in the original post isn't even slightly informative about the project and its background, just on how you can pay.

Where thou and I looking at the same web-page link? Seemed fairly clear to me with reports of its preliminary Geo-physical, archival, etc., work, plus results of trial excavations. With my archaeologist hat on, well, they have done a good evaluation and costing, and if this was a Roman temple or Arras Culture cemetery then of course it wold be excavated!
