I’m looking for info on the above named soldier. Unfortunately I haven’t got access right now to my computer or I could bash on and do it myself. I haven’t got a date of death for him either. He is named on a plaque in St Peter’s Church in Auchmithie, Angus, where I grew up. Just wondered about him and his Military Medal. Any info is greatly appreciated

Hello Johno, my presumption is we are talking about L/Sgt 11932 Alexander Mcayran Marshall 1st then 9th Btn Cameronian (Scottish Rifles), who can come up on searches as Andrew Marshall #11932.

Missing, presumed on the 3rd May 1917.

MM Gazette date 9th July 1917..

Regards

Andy

You can try the war diary of the 9th Scottish Rifles to see if he is mentioned.

War Office Casualty lists  confim the Sept 16 wounding (Reported 4th Dec 16). He also appears on a 30th April 1917 list.

Many thanks chaps. I will have a gander at the 9th’s war diary when I get home.
