Hello. I am trying to find out the most fought over position during the Salonika Campaign. I have Two positions that keep coming up when I read about the campaign the first is P 4 1/2 on the Doiran front and the 2nd is the village of Nevolyen in the Struma Valley. Out of those two I would go for P4 1/2 due to the army withdrawing during the summer from the Struma Valley also which position did the British Salonika Army suffer the most casualties was it the attacks on the PETIT  COURONNE, MACHUKOVO or PIP RIDGE        Many Thanks

Casualties according to the official History:

10/9/1916 Nevolyen 124

14/9/1916 Machukovo 586

1st Doiran April 1916 3,163

1st Doiran May 1916 1,861

October 1917 Struma valley villages re-occupied (no casualtiy figures for Nevolyen)

2nd Doiran September 1918 3,492

In both battles of Doiran Pip ridge including P41/2 was repeatedly attacked, to know the exact figure for P41/2   you would have to study the battalion war diaries of the different units that attempted to take it.

In my opinion the answer to your question the most fought over position would be Pip ridge and P41/2
