battle of loos Posted 14 December , 2017 Posted 14 December , 2017 good morning, I research the British units present on the area north of Hill 70 (Chalk Pit Wood) during the German counterattack of 08 October 1915. Thank you in advance. Kind regards michel
brianmorris547 Posted 15 December , 2017 Posted 15 December , 2017 Michel The War Diary of 1 Division HQ General Staff records that the 3rd Infantry Brigade had reported that the Germans had attacked Chalk Pit at 3.30 pm (1530hrs) 08/10/1915 and had been repulsed. It also reported that the French had repulsed an attack on the Loos front. The War Diary of 3rd Infantry Brigade has a report of the action and particular attention is given to the part played by 1st Bn Gloucestershire Regt and 9th Bn Kings (Liverpool) Regt. The War Diary of 1 Bn Gloucesters has a good account of the action but the War Diary of 9 Kings only has a couple of lines. Brian
