Colin W Taylor Posted 7 December , 2017 Share Posted 7 December , 2017 Steve, The unit war diary can be found on Ancestry or the National Archives. http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C7352081 http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C7352098 https://www.ancestry.co.uk/interactive/60779/43112_1424_0-00005?pid=404352&backurl=https://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/sse.dll?_phsrc%3DYzY1773%26_phstart%3DsuccessSource%26usePUBJs%3Dtrue%26indiv%3D1%26db%3DUKWarDiariesWWI%26gss%3Dangs-d%26new%3D1%26rank%3D1%26msT%3D1%26gskw%3D1424%26MSAV%3D1%26uidh%3D616%26pcat%3D39%26fh%3D7%26h%3D404352%26recoff%3D%26ml_rpos%3D8&treeid=&personid=&hintid=&usePUB=true&_phsrc=YzY1773&_phstart=successSource&usePUBJs=true#?imageId=43112_1424_0-00001 If you are after personal diaries or letters from members of the battalion the best place to look would be the Imperial War Museum catalogue - http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/search?query=suffolk regiment 1916&f[0]=webCategory%3Aprivate papers&items_per_page=50 What there is will depend on what period you are interested in or who you are interested in. Pictures of the battalion are likely pretty rare and in the same vein regarding your period of interest. Kind regards Colin

Acknown Posted 14 January , 2018 Share Posted 14 January , 2018 Steve, There are many photos of 2nd Suffolks in WW1 on the IWM Collections website. Go to: http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections, type in 'Suffolk' or '2nd Suffolk', choose 'First World War' filter and scroll through the several pages. There is also a film: http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/1060022858. Acknown
WilliamRev Posted 14 January , 2018 Share Posted 14 January , 2018 (edited) Hi Steve, There is a first-hand description of 2nd Suffolks (76 Brigade, 3rd Division) in action at Zonnebeke in The Battle of Third Ypres, 26 September 1917 Called 'The Zonnebeke Show', by Lieutenant Huffield It appears in the Ypres Times, (not to be confused with the Wipers Times of course), October 1932, and can be downloaded as several PDFs, or just scroll through the pages at the bottom until you get to pages 104-106.
