Dear reader,

Any clue what kind of gear this has been? and there is a number with initials, which could be possible to trace?

Found in northern France near the town of Stenay in a ruin.

This is the standard US Army back pack from WW1 and continued to be manufactured and used in WW2. The "tail" is fitted to the bottom with a leather lace.
