Chris_B Posted 6 December , 2017 Share Posted 6 December , 2017 Between May 1917 and May 1918 more than 300,000 people used the tube to shelter from German aeroplane attacks. That was double the number of people that were regularly sheltering in the tube during the height of the London Blitz in September 1940. Aspern Posted 7 December , 2017 Share Posted 7 December , 2017 A large number of raids targetted London, but many settled for secondary targets. Of raids that actually dropped bombs on the capital there were nine by airships, two by individual small aircraft and 17 by Gothas/'Giants', so 28 in all. I have covered all the London raids in my book "The First Blitz - Bombing London in the First World War" which includes maps of the majority of the raids. https://www.amazon.co.uk/First-Blitz-Bombing-London-World/dp/1472815297/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1512680707&sr=1-2&keywords=first+blitz You can also find more details on my website www.IanCastleZeppelin.co.uk Ian
