Fujdog Posted 4 December , 2017 Posted 4 December , 2017 In Vol. 1 of the War In the Air, (page 433) Raleigh quotes the famous 1915 memo note by Kitchener to Brancker that added 'Double this' to the estimated need for fifty service squadrons. Does anyone have the original source of this? Or can give me a rough idea of where to look for it (at Kew, I guess)? Many thanks Jill
quemerford Posted 4 December , 2017 Posted 4 December , 2017 It's apocryphal: covered by Jeff Jefford in Cross & Cockade magazine some time back. IIRC he even highlighted an article which gave a TNA source, even though it doesn't exist in that source.

Fujdog Posted 20 December , 2017 Author Posted 20 December , 2017 I wonder if the infamous "What are you going to do about these air raids?" quote from Kitchener to Henderson (also quoted in the official history) is apocryphal too?
