Hi DaveC,

From the few pages in his "service record" it appears that George was originally number 16921 (?) East Yorkshire Regiment, transferring to the West Riding Regiment on 7th June 1916.

His fitness for overseas service (and inoculation and vaccination records) are recorded under the authority of the medical officer in charge of 3/East Yorkshire Regiment.

George has a surviving will - £10 from here, but would probably tell you little, or nothing extra.

Regards

Chris

Hi Dave, George is commemorated in the Sheffield City Council Roll of Honour. It is in book form and you can see a copy at Sheffield Local Studies library, also while there you will find an image of him in the 31/10/16 edition of the Sheffield Daily Independent newspaper.
