stevenbecker Posted 15 November , 2017 Share Posted 15 November , 2017 Mates, Do you have any details on the death of Lt Hugh Cameron DCo around Saris with the 2/5Bn Hampshires 52nd Div. Cheers S.B
Eran Tearosh Posted 17 November , 2017 Share Posted 17 November , 2017 Hi Steve, 2/5 Hampshire Bn belonged to 232 Brigade of the 75th Div. and not the 52nd Div. Unfortunately, the 75th Div. doesn’t have an official history, however - The Royal Hampshire Regiment has! Maybe some details regarding Lt Hugh Cameron DCO may be found there Look at this thread: Eran
assafx Posted 17 November , 2017 Share Posted 17 November , 2017 Steve, it seems they were helping an Indian regiment ( 58th Vaughan's Rifles ). see the relevant page attached. Assaf
assafx Posted 17 November , 2017 Share Posted 17 November , 2017 Here is the 58th rifles account. They saw some fighting but no one reports his casualties so it is hard to say when and where. you might have more luck with the battalion war diary but this is one of the battalions that i don't have.
