Armistice 100 - Ringing for Peace

A new initiative was announced over the weekend to get the nation's bells ringing on 11 November 1918. When the original Armistice was announced and came into force many churches around the country rang their bells to announce the news.  As part of this project there will be an effort to train 1400 new ringers, symbolically replacing those bell ringers known to have been killed in the war.

Says a lot about the CCCBR that this is the first I've heard of this here!

In this instance I don't think that's entirely fair: there was quite a bit of media coverage over the Remembrance weekend, 2 or 3 newspaper pieces on the Sunday, a piece on BBC Sunday Morning television and on the BBC website.  It was also in Ringing World on Friday 10 November, and there are several mentions on the CCCBR website (where you can now subscribe for weekly email updates).  There was also quite a bit posted on the ringing groups on Facebook and things like that too.
