MikB Posted 2 November , 2017 Share Posted 2 November , 2017 Well, thanks for that, but a lot of what I think I know comes from reading articles by 'respected' writers (eg. Jan Stevenson, who wrote several about non-regulation WW1 pistols) over long periods, but in most cases I no longer have them and could not have validated them in the first place. I've also seen some of these guns in various pistol clubs before the handgun ban of the late 90s, and occasionally fired one or two of them. For those reasons I can't refute Radlad's suggestion - it could indeed have been carried by a German, but because I believe .32 and .38 S&W ammunition were in the British Army supply chain in WW1 I think British is more likely. However, it may simply be that much more that's accessible to English readers has been written about such weapons in British and Empire Army use than German. So of course it's possible, though I have to say that to me it's an indistinct rather than a distinct possibility
