Mates,

Tomorrow see's the first part of the 3rd Gaza Battle when the Ottoman 3rd Cavalry Div + made a recce in force to probe the Allied line along the El Buggar area south west of Beersheba.

For some time we had been encroaching on the Beersheba area, which at time drew the Ottomans down for a fight, but other then cavalry actions and patrols they had not made a major operation.

This changed tomorrow when units of the Yeomanry were attacked and over ran by the Ottoman Infantry supported by the Cavalry and guns of the 3rd Cav Div.

At the end of the day the Ottomans withdrawn as planned and we reoccupied the area by the 3rd LH Bde with units of the 20th Corps.

I always liked this name for a battle.

S.B

Steve,

How close to Asluj?  6Th LH men and others were digging out the wells in preparation for the advance on Be'er Sheva?

Asluj is about 15 miles SSE of Buqqar (aka Buggar) Ridge.
