Regulus 1 Posted 10 October , 2017 Share Posted 10 October , 2017 Good evening, As very little is known about the German WW I nurses of the Red Cross I decided to start a new website on the matter. The focus is on list of the nurses that died during the war from various causes. So far 254 or 256 (two names are under discussion) names have been added to this list. This is probably only half of the real number, but reconstructing this list is much more difficult as in Commonwealth countries as most of the German archives have been destroyed in WW II. Any additional information or additional names are, of course, always welcome. Your "Special Case" Ottilie Moss is probably Ottilie VOSS, executed at Bourges on 16.5.15 for passing information to the enemy. Go to http://www.memoiredeshommes.sga.defense.gouv.fr/fr/arkotheque/client/mdh/fusilles_premiere_guerre/ and enter VOSS beside "Nom". Click Rechercher, then Détail, then click on the eyeball symbols for the trial documents. I can't post a direct link because it expires after a few minutes and takes you back to the home page. AOK4 Posted 11 October , 2017 Share Posted 11 October , 2017 Irene Kölpin's name was actually Irene Kölpin ( and she did die in Eeklo. The name on the stone in Menen is wrong (Erna Kölp). It struck a chord with me, having researched the life of an English nurse (Sarah "Sallie" Round) who fell in love with a Serbian officer. She lost him, was awarded British and Serbian medals, then nursed in India - eventually being awarded the Kaisar-i-Hind Third class in Bronze. She died in England in a nursing home... This is the first time I ever saw anything about her (Ottilie Voss) that was not doubtful ! Jan, thanks for the clarification on Kölpin - any idea on what her correct unit was ? Marie Finn originally was a Helferin with the Red Cross, but yes, she was indeed a cook at the hospital at Roeselare. Same with Minna Wenk. But indeed, no nurses. AOK4 Posted 11 October , 2017 Share Posted 11 October , 2017 Kriegslazarett-Abteilung 127. She worked in Kortrijk but apparently was sent to Eeklo when she was sick.
