This is Capt James J Fraser, CAMC who got a MiD for bravery and coolness while in a position of danger, assisting Major Hardy at dressing station in Ypres during night of April 22nd-23rd.

This is Percy Norman Alexander Private 9169 who went on to get a commission in the Canadian Infantry, finishing as a Major with an MC and bar, and a couple of nasty wounds.

At 10am marched to P12.e.3.5 Sheet 27 located in a field, pitched tents, which provided shelter for Personnel of Unit and 18 patients – 74th Field Ambulance took over 12 patients from us. Patients remaining 18. Arrived here at about 1:30pm.

Heavy shelling in this area on the night 5th to 6th using Lachrymatory Shells which gave a peculiar heavy sickening sweat-like odour and caused intense smarting and inflammation of eyes.

Advanced Dressing Station – Bedford House

Between 2 and 3pm this date, this Station was shelled by about 20 HE shells, probably 5.9” shells. They all came within a radius of 20 yards of the house. During this shelling the following casualties occurred amongst the personnel at this Station:

Is there more to this? My wife's Great uncle, Findlay McDiarmid was killed Nov 7th, 1917 he was attached to 2nd FA. Was hoping to get background in what occurred.

Happy it worked for you. My original interest was WDs in general that named casualties/injured but this one in particular just didn't have enough detail to carry on transcribing it
