I'd say Worcestershire Regiment to get the ball rolling.

Thank you so much for this, I could not even see "firm" with the resolution on my laptop.

 

It was more the shape of it really, so much is about knowing what to look for and then interpreting shade and light.  Right in the centre, within a garter, a crowned Lion stands and below, on the star, a tiny tablet inscribed FIRM.  It marked the Worcesters out from others with similar shaped badges like the Cheshires, East Surrey's and East Yorks.
