Can't add much I'm afraid and you may well already know all this, but: there's a medal index card and medal rolls on Ancestry for 77934 Dvr John Banks, Royal Field Artillery so he served overseas; he first entered a theatre of war - (1) France & Flanders - on 3rd February 1915. There's no record I can see of a Silver War Badge so he doesn't seem to have been discharged on medical grounds (e.g. wounds), nor can I see him on the CWGC database so he appears to have survived the war. Absent voters list might turn up something if you know which town to look at?

Cheers, Pat.
