Guest Posted 8 August , 2017 Share Posted 8 August , 2017 (edited) I am researching the war history of my Great Uncle George Barton - Number 27952 of the 11th Battalion Lancashire Fusilers. It would appear that George was taken prisoner on the night of the 27/28th May 1918 (start of the 3rd battle of Asines) near the village of Breuil and was listed as being in Stendal POW camp by the Germans as of 3/9/18. Does anyone have access to the Battalion war diaries for the relevant period that would help me confirm the unit movements around this time please? sotonmate Posted 8 August , 2017 Share Posted 8 August , 2017 I see that you have likely found the Red Cross POW card for him. The repatriation card R52896 shows he landed in Dover on Nov 30th 1918. War Diary ref WO95/2246/2 covers this unit. If you can access Ancestry you can get a free look by using 2246/2 in the keyword box (only).
