Memorial at Maltz horn farm near Guillemont

Hello,

I recently visited the memorial at Maltzhorn farm near Guillemont. I have attached images. Can anyone help read the faded script?

I get the general gist of it, but I do not understanding French very well I am struggling to form some of the words.

Secondly, I assuming that is sharpnel and shell fragments placed by the memorial by the local farmers. Is that correct?

thanks in advance

The inscription reads: "Here stood Maltzkorn Duclerq Farm, destroyed in the fighting which took place on this spot from 1 July to 9 August 1916".

i think the shrapnel balls etc were more likely placed there by visitors and not local farmers
