Memorial is outside Caban which is built on the site of Brynrefaily School - excellent cafe there which I recommend.

This might be the War Memorial from Methodist Capel Brynrefail mentioned in this newspaper article.

Looks like you and I both had an enjoyable time driving round Caernarfonshire - I was there in April - photographing war memorials. I wonder if this one was on the site of the chapel; hopefully the vegetation will be kept in check as time passes.

Thank you for sharing these excellent Welsh memorials with us.

Yes not bad for a machine...

A few corrections if I may.

RWP are the initials of the poet R.Williams Parry (1884-1956), from the Rhyd-ddu/Nantlle area.

Most famous perhaps for his 1924 verses in memory of Hedd Wyn.

Thanks for the improved translation, it was just to check I got the transcription roughly right and to give the gist of the meaning.

I had not noticed the chapel had been converted to flats - my Taid was christened there and born up on the main street.

I asked about the location years ago in the Post Office and was taken through to be shown a history of school (in Welsh) that listed contributors to the fund to build it.  Quite a few of my family there.  A year or so later I photocopied some of those pages in the UCNW library.

All my pictures go up on FLICKR
